The Seattle Sounders opened the upper deck at the recently renamed CenturyLink Field on Thursday, attracting 46,065 fans to a regular season Major League Soccer game where the visiting team was missing both of their marquee players. Seattle gave the fans goals instead. Eric Friberg opened the scoring in the 11th minute and it was 2-0 Seattle a minute later through Osvaldo Alonso. New York came back with a Dane Richards goal in the 31st, equalizing through a 58th minute own-goal. Roger Levesque was the hero for the home crowd, scoring in the 67th and 78th minutes.
