The Philadelphia Union announced on Wednesday that manager Peter Nowak had left the club and his assistant John Hackworth was their new head coach. In a quickly arranged press conference when most of the soccer attention was on the European Championships, Philadelphia CEO Nick Sakiewicz announced the change. Philadelphia are 9th in the Eastern Conference, ahead of only Toronto who also made a recent coaching change. The club has confirmed that the rest of the coaching staff will remain in place.
