Sporting Kansas City will host Seattle at Livestrong Sporting Park on August 8th in the 2012 US Open Cup final.

Sporting Kansas City will host the Seattle Sounders on August 8th at Livestrong Sporting Park in the US Open Cup final.  Both teams advanced on Wednesday with Kansas City beating Philadelphia 2-0 at PPL Park and Seattle dominating Chivas USA 4-1 at the Starfire Sports Complex.

In front of 8,486 in Chester, Kansas City's Jacob Peterson opened the scoring in the 65th minute with Graham Zusi making it 2-0 Sporting three minutes into stoppage time.  Kansas City scored on two of their three shots on goal while Philadelphia only put one shot on frame from four taken.

"It is going to be phenomenal," Peterson said of Kansas City hosting the final. "We have the best fans in the League and there is no better atmosphere in the League to play. We are excited and we hope to put a show on for our fans."

With an announced attendance of 4500 in Tukwila, Eddie Johnson opened the scoring for the home side in the 31st minute and Osvaldo Alonso made it 2-0 in the 48th.  Cesar Romero pulled a goal back for Chivas USA in the 74th, but Brad Evans made it 3-0 Sounders in the 83rd minute.  Samuel Ochoa finished off the scoring five minutes later.

“We’ll be very aware when we step on the field in Kansas City that we have a chance to do something nobody’s done,” Seattle coach Sigi Schmid told MLSsoccer.com. “That should be a highly motivating factor for our club and all the players on our team.”
