The Los Angeles Galaxy beat Metapan 5-2 in CONCACAF Champions League play on Thursday night at the Home Depot Center, but it took a quick comeback. Metapan opened the scoring in the 17th minute, giving up an own-goal equalizer three minutes later. Robbie Keane put LA ahead in the 22nd, with David Beckham scoring in the 45th minute. Keane was sent off in the 70th. Junior made it 4-1 LA in the 82nd. Metapan converted an 87th minute penalty, but Junior would score again three minutes into stoppage time.
“I don't know, Robbie spoke, said something, whatever,"LA coach Bruce Arena told MLSsoccer.com. "But when a referee misses a call like that, he's got to be big enough to kind of ignore it and let the game go on. So the player gets a yellow card for diving when he's fouled and then, obviously, a red card for... I don't even know. They didn't explain anything to us.”
In Thursday's other game, Municipal beat Chorrillo 2-1.
