Herculez Gomez subbed on in the 66th minute for Santos Laguna in their 5-0 win over Aguila in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage. Santos was ahead in the 6th minute when Darwin Quintero scored. Quintero scored again in the 26th. Four minutes later, it was 3-0 from an Edgar Lugo goal. Daniel Luduena scored Santos's fourth goal in the 41st minute, with Quintero finishing off his hat-trick and the scoring in the 47th minute.
At Rio Tinto Stadium, Real Salt Lake beat Tauro 2-0. Alvaro Saborio opened the scoring in the 48th minute and Kyle Beckerman got a goal in the 58th. Beckerman was sent off in the 72nd minute.
"So the ball was in the air and it was coming from one side from the other and I’m going to play the ball and this guy comes out of my blind spot and kind of runs into my foot and rolls around like he got shot, which is standard CONCACAF, but yeah I really didn’t see him at all," Beckerman said of the sequence that led to his red card. "Today, there was nothing I could do. It might have looked bad but I really didn’t see him. I was trying to play a ball that was in the air. You know red cards, they happen in soccer but you don’t want to get them so you try not to.”
