National Teamers Abroad: Gomez keeps at it

Herculez Gomez scored for Santos Laguna in Week 3 of the Liga MX Apertura season.

Though the Liga MX season is still in its early rounds, a US soccer player was once again on the score sheet.  This time, it was Herculez Gomez getting a goal for Santos Laguna in a 2-2- draw with Puebla on Friday.  Carlos Quintero opened the scoring for Santos in the 6th minute with Gomez doubling that lead in the 15th.  DaMarcus Beasley and Puebla would come back through two Matias Alustiza goals (65th and 80th) to split the points.  Gomez subbed out in the 71st minute. He would play 74 minutes on Sunday in a 2-1 exhibition loss to Real Madrid in Las Vegas.

Staying in Mexico, Edgar Castillo and Tijuana beat UNAM Pumas 1-0 at Estadio Caliente.  Pablo Aguilar scored the game's only goal in the 45th minute.  Castillo was yellow carded in the 5th minute.  Michael Orozco's San Luis came back against Morelia and then gave up a two-goal lead in a 3-3 draw.  A 45th minute Sebastian Fernandez goal leveled the score and Fernandez put San Luis up from the penalty spot seven minutes later.  Santiago Trellez made it 4-1 in the 66th but Morelia goals in the 85th and 88th split the points.

Austrian Bundesliga, and Terrence Boyd went the distance for Rapid Vienna, shutout 3-0 at home by Austria Vienna in the Viennese derby on Sunday.  Austria Vienna's goals came in the 38th, 52nd, and 83rd minutes.  In Belgium, Sacha Kljestan subbed on in the 81st minute for Anderlecht in a 1-0 win over Beerschot. 

Denmark, and Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjaelland drew 1-1 away to AaB.  Falling behind in the 85th, Nordsjaelland's Joshua John equalized three minutes later.  Parkhurst was yellow carded in the 73rd minute.  Clarence Goodson and Brondby lost 3-1 to Aarhus.  Simon Christoffersen scored a consolation goal in the 86th minute with Aarhus already up three in front of 8,908 at NRGi Park.  Goodson was yellow carded in the 24th minute.  Charlie Davies subbed on at halftime for Randers, losing 2-1 to Midtjylland in front of 5,324 at MCH Arena.  Midtjylland were already up two goals when Randers' Tidiane Sane scored four minutes from time.
