National Teamers Abroad: It’s Altidore… again

In week two of the Eredivisie season, it was once again Jozy Altidore scoring twice for AZ.The start of the Premier League season might be the easy headline, but for Americans Abroad Jozy Alitdore's second double-goal game was the story.  Altidore opened the scoring in AZ's 3-1 win over Heracles in the 16th minute.  Maarten Martens doubled the lead ten minutes later.  Heracles would get a goal back three minutes from time, but it would be Altidore again with a stoppage time goal. 

Michael Parkhurst also got a goal, scoring the game-winner in Nordsjaelland's 1-0 over Aarhus.  Parkhurst scored in the 75th minute.  Clarence Goodson got the equalizer six minutes from time for Brondby in a 1-1 draw with Copenhagen.  Charlie Davies subbed on in the 72nd minute for Randers, shutting out Silkeborg 1-0.  In Sweden, Alejandro Bedoya was also a goal scorer though Helsingborg would lose 2-1 to Elfsborg.  Bedoya was yellow carded in the 43rd minute.  Sacha Kljestan subbed on in the 80th minute for Anderlecht, beating Mons 2-1. 

In the Premier League, Brad Friedel was in goal for Spurs in a 2-1 loss to Newcastle.  With Newcastle opening the scoring in the 54th minute, Tottenham's Jermaine DeFoe equalized in the 76th.  Newcastle were ahead for good four minutes later after converting a penalty.  Tim Ream and Bolton were shutout 2-0 by Burnley.  Scotland, and Carlos Bocanegra was in the starting lineup for Rangers as they beat East Shirlington 5-1 at Ibrox. 

A league down, and Tim Ream got the start for Bolton losing 2-0 to Burnley.  Jonathan Spector subbed on in the 63rd minute for Birmingham City in a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic.  In League One, Frank Simek subbed on late for Carlisle in their 1-1 draw with Stevenage. 

In the DFB Pokal, Hannover had no trouble with Nottingen in a 6-1 win. Steve Cherundolo went 62 minutes, subbing out with Hannover up 4-1.  Things didn't go as smoothly for Timmy Chandler's Nurnberg who exited the tournament 3-2 to Havelse. 

Mexico, and Edgar Castillo went the distance for Tijuana in a 2-1 win over Tigres.  Alfredo Moreno opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Fernando Arce got a goal in the 34th.  Tigres pulled a goal back in the 64th minute.  Joe Corona played 69 minutes for Tijuana.  Also on Friday, DaMarcus Beasley's Puebla was shutout 3-0 by Morelia.  Herculez Gomez played 51 minutes for Santos Laguna in a 2-1 loss to UNAM Pumas.  Daniel Ludeuena scored Santos's goal in the 61st minute with Pumas already up two goals.  Michael Orozco was yellow carded in the 35th minute with San Luis losing 1-0 to Chivas.
