The Houston dynamo had no problem putting away CD FAS on Thursday night at BBVA Compass Stadium in a 4-0 shutout. Balancing their Major League Soccer schedule, home field, and the quality of their opponent, Houston went with a transitional lineup that included a mix of regulars and squad players. Giles Barnes put the Dynamo up a goal in the 21st minute and it was 2-0 when Bobby Boswell scored in the 44th. Cam Weaver made it 30 in the 49th and Calen Carr finished off the scoring in the 78th minute.
“Finding your form takes game minutes and if you’re just training and not getting game minutes it’s hard to keep your form up," Weaver told MLSsoccer.com. I’m happy to get a goal, couple of assists and to help the team. I think we pretty much accomplished everything we wanted to accomplish for the team.”
Houston now leads Group 3 by three points, but 2nd-place Olimpia has yet to play their third game. They travel to play CD FAS on Sept 27th. The group concludes with Houston hosting Olimpia on Oct 23rd.
Also on the Champions League on Thursday, Municipal beat Chorrillo 2-1.
