Europa League: Hannover, Spurs win

US soccer player Alejandro Bedoya scored for Helsingborg in Europa League play on Nov 8th, 2012.Thursday’s Europa League schedule brought individual success for Alejandro Bedoya, but a 3-2 loss for Helsingborg in Group L.  Facing off against Steve Cherundolo’s Hannover 96 at AWD-Arena, Mame Diouf put Hannover up in the 3rd minute and doubled the lead in the 50th.  Helsingborg equalized in the 59th with a Nikola Durdic goal, and it was Bedoya equalizing in the 67th.  A stoppage time penalty decided the game, with Szabolcs Huszti successfully converting in the 91st minute.

In Group K, Terrence Boyd and Rapid Vienna were shutout 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen.  Boyd exited in the 86th minute after picking up a yellow card in the 81st.  Also in Group K, Mix Diskerud subbed on in the 62nd minute for Rosenborg in a 3-1 loss to Metalist who led from the 4th minute.  Borek Dockal’s 42nd minute equalizer was it for the Rosenborg offense. 

Tottenham beat Maribor 3-1 in Group J with Jermain Defoe scoring all three goals.  Clint Dempsey subbed on for Defoe in the 82nd minute.  Brad Friedel wasn’t in the squad.
