In a meeting of US National Team players in England's Premier League, Tim Howard's Everton drew 3-3 with Brad Guzan's Aston Villa at Goodison Park. Christian Benteke had Villa up two minutes into the game, with Victor Anichebe equalizing in the 21st. Gabriel Agbonlahor made it 2-1 Villa in the 24th and it was 3-1 when Benteke scored his second goal in the 61st minute. Marouane Fellaini got a goal back for Everton in the 69th minute and equalized three minutes into stoppage time.
"It really frustrates you, but the way we played coming here, I don't think anybody gave us an earthly," Villa manager Paul Lambert said of the stoppage time Everton equalizer. "I'm not one to feel sorry for myself. We're fighting like hell to get out of it and if we keep playing like that then we'll win more games than not."
Clint Dempsey and Spurs beat West Brom 1-0 with a 67th minute goal from Gareth Bale. Geoff Cameron's Stoke City were shutout 1-0 by Arsenal. Cameron subbed out in the 84th minute. A league down, Tim Ream's Bolton lost 2-1 to Watford. Bolton took the lead with a 32nd minute penalty. Watford equalized in the 36th minute and got a 70th minute winner. Frank Simek's Carlisle United beat Tranmere 1-0 on a 44th minute Rory Loy goal in League One.
Michael Bradley's Roma lost 4-2 to Cagliari in Serie A. Roma's Francesco Totto equalized in the 35th minute but Roma fell behind 4-1. Marquinho scored for Roma in the 93rd minute. Jozy Altidore's AZ were shutout 1-0 by Groningen. The referee reduced AZ to ten men in the 65th minute and cautioned Altidore in the 78th. Maurice Edu's Bursaspor drew 1-1 with Galatasaray.
Bursaspor's Sebastian Pinto scored in the 18th minute with Galatasary equalizing in the 30th. Sacha Kljestan's Anderlecht drew 2-2 with Standard Liege. Anderlecht were ahead from the 2nd minute but needed an 85th minute equalizer from Guillaume Gillet in the 85th minute to split the points. The referee red carded two Anderlecht players with Milan Jovanovic exiting in the 39th and Lucas Biglia following in the 81st minute. Kljestan subbed out in the 69th minute. Carlos Bocanegra's Racing Santander beat Sporting Gijon 2-1 in Spain's second division. Santander's Jairo Samperio equalized in the 77th minute and Mamadou Kone scored the winner five minutes later. The referee cautioned Bocanegra in the 69th minute.
Jermaine Jones returned from suspension in Schalke's 2-1 loss to Greuther Furth. Schalke took the lead through a 47th minute Michel Bastos goal, but Greuther Furth were level within five minutes. Greuther Furth's Nikola Durdic scored the winner two minutes into stoppage time. Fabian Johnson started and Danny Williams subbed on in the 76th minute for Hoffenheim's 2-1 win over Freiburg. With Hoffenheim trailing from the 4th minute, Kevin Volland scored in the 10th and 26th for the win. Timmy Chandler's Nurnberg beat 'Gladbach 2-1. Nurnberg coverted a 4th minute penalty and doubled their lead when Toma Pekhart scored in the 30th minute. 'Gladbach pulled a goal back in the 58th.
In Liga MX, Jose Torres and Tigres drew 2-2 with Edgar Castillo and Joe Corona's Tijuana. With Tigres trailing from the 13th minute, Lucas Lobos equalized in the 53rd and put his club ahead in the 65th. Dubier Riascos equalized for Tijuana in the 74th. Torres subbed out in the 82nd minute with Corona exiting in the 69th. The referee cautioned Torres in the 69th. Herculez Gomez's Santos Laguna played out a scoreless draw with UNAM Pumas. The referee yellow carded Gomez in the 30th and he subbed out in the 72nd minute. DaMarcus Beasley and Michael Orozco's Puebla beat Morelia 3-1. Puebla took the lead from an 18th minute own-goal, with Morelia equalizing in the 21st minute. Felix Borja put Puebla back in front in the 27th with Gustavo Alustiza scoring three minutes into stoppage time. Beasley subbed out in the 66th minute.
