National Teamers Abroad: Goals for Gomez and Altidore

Liga MX club Santos Laguna.

Herculez Gomez was the hero for Santos Laguna, scoring twice and setting up a goal in their 3-1 win over Chiapas on Friday night in Liga MX.  Gomez opened the scoring in the 14th minute with Chiapas equalizing three minutes later.  Gomez assisted on Oribe Peralta's goal in the 18th minute and scored Santos Laguna's third in the 21st.  Gomez subbed out in the 74th minute. 

Also in Mexico, DaMarcus Beasley's Puebla shutout Leon 1-0 on a 53rd minute Diego de Buen goal.  The referee sent off Puebla's Jaime Duran five minutes into stoppage time.  Edgar Castillo started and Joe Corona subbed on in the 74th minute for Tijuana's 1-0 loss to Atlas.  Jose Torres and Tigres drew 1-1 with Morelia. Lucas Lobos opened the scoring for Tigres at home in the 27th minute with Morelia coming up with a stoppage time equalizer.  Torres subbed out in the 73rd minute. 

Jozy Altidore scored for the 24th time for AZ this season, his 17th goal in league games.  AZ lost 2-1 to RFK Waalwijk at the Mandemakers Stadion.  Waalwijk opened the scoring in the 39th minute with Altidore equalizing in the 69th.  Waalwijk scored again in the 76th minute.  The loss drops AZ to 15th place in the 18-team Eredivisie. 

In Austria, Terrence Boyd's Rapid Vienna lost 2-1 to Wolfsberger.  Rapid led from the 10th minute but gave up goals in the 16th and 35th.  The referee red carded Wolfsberger players in the 51st and 79th minutes, but the advantage wasn't enough for Rapid to produce an equalizer.  Turkey, and Maurice Edu's Bursaspor shutout Sivasspor 1-0 on a 67th minute Pablo Batalla goal.  In Serie A, Michael Bradley subbed on in the 39th minute for Roma's 3-1 win over Genoa.  The clubs traded first-half penalties with Roma scoring in the 58th and 89th minute for the win.  Genoa went a man down in the 78th and the referee booked Bradley in the 87th minute.

Jermaine Jones and Schalke 04 beat Wolfsburg 4-1 in Germany's Bundesliga.  Schalke's Julian Draxler opened the scoring in the 33rd minute.  Wolfsburg were level at the Volkswagen Arena by the 50th minute, but Drxler scored again in the 63rd.  Schalke added goals in the 79th and 86th minutes.  The referee booked Jones in the 73rd minute.  Danny Williams and Fabian Johnson started for Hoffenheim in their 1-0 loss to Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.  The referee booked Williams in the 54th minute.

In the Premier League, Brek Shea subbed on in the 66th minute for Stoke's 1-0 loss to West Ham.  In the Championship, Jonathan Spector's Birmingham City lost 5-2 to Hull at Kingston Communications Stadium.  Birmingham trailed 5-0 before Peter Lovenkrands scored in the 83rd minute. League One, and Frank Simek's Carlisle were shutout 1-0 by Notts County.
