WASHINGTON, DC (Aug 18, 2008) USSoccerPlayers -- The only thing standing in the way of US international Maurice Edu from joining DaMarcus Beasley at Glasgow Rangers is a work permit. The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms after Major League Soccer finalized his $5 million dollar transfer from Toronto FC.
Edu is in the squad for the United States' World Cup Qualifier against Guatemala on Wednesday, but he was in attendance for Rangers home game on Saturday. Rangers have been working to revamp their squad after crashing out of the Champions League in the second round of qualifying.
Edu was recently announced as one of the cover athlete for the FIFA 2009 video game in North Ameria, wearing his Toronto uniform alongside Ronaldinho and Guillermo Ochoa. He is one of the motion captured players in the game.
