WASHINGTON, DC (Sept 24, 2008) USSoccerPlayers -- The Houston Dynamo get a point from their Tuesday trip to Panama, drawing 0-0 with San Francisco FC in their opening game of Group B in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The difference was the Houston defense and the play of Pat Onstad. San Francisco put seven of their twelve shots on goal to Houston's 3 from ten.
Houston's next game in the Champions League is against UNAM Pumas on Tuesday in Mexico City. San Francisco drew with Pumas 1-1 in their Group B opener.
Elsewhere, Puerto Rico beat Santos Laguna 3-1 in Puerto Rico to take the lead in Group D. The Islanders played through in wet conditions, the result of a tropical storm.
Cruz Azul won big on Tuesday, beating Saprissa 4-0 to take the Group A lead on goal differential while waiting for Wednesday's Marathon - DC United result. Saprissa beat DC 2-0 last week.
