First off, we'll Anglicize the name to to Lorient Road in honor of our favorite American player for the home team, Stade Rennais defender Carlos Bocanegra. Joining the club for the start of this season, Bocanegra has become a regular starter for the red and black, currently fifth in Ligue 1.
Lorient Road was originally built for the start of the 1912 season, it was rebuilt in the early part of the decade. Though the stadium has a capacity of over 30,000, sellouts are rare.
The current version of the stadium has hosted UEFA Cup soccer in 2005-06, 07-08, and 08-09. Rennais was eliminated in the qualifying round after qualifying through the UEFA Cup.
