COLUMBUS, OH (Jan 9, 2008) MLS -- The Columbus Crew announced today that it has acquired a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft from Los Angeles, in exchange for the rights to midfielder Stefani Miglioranzi.
Miglioranzi, 31, was acquired by the Crew from L.A. on Jan. 19, 2007, in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. He made 37 appearances, 24 of them starts, for the Black & Gold, collecting three goals and three assists. During the Crew’s MLS Cup Championship season in 2008, Miglioranzi made 14 appearances, with seven starts, and tallied one assist.
“We appreciate Stefani’s contributions over the last two years and wish him well in LA,” said Crew technical director Brian Bliss.
Prior to signing with Los Angeles as a discovery player in 2006, Miglioranzi spent nearly eight seasons in England. He moved with his family to the United States from Brazil at the age of 12 and went on to star first at Iona and then at St. John’s, helping the Red Storm to the 1996 NCAA Championship.
