WASHINGTON, DC (Feb 24, 2009) MLS -- DC United announced today the club has signed forward Mawate Ange N’Silu. The 22-year-old joins United after a nearly three-week trial. He last played for FC Le Mont, a Swiss team based out of Lausanne. N’Silu will be officially added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa.
“Ange showed very well during our pre-season training and he is deserving of place on our roster,” said United General Manager Dave Kasper. “He is technically sound with good athletic qualities, and will provide solid depth for us on our front line”
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in Paris, France, N’Silu signed with Le Havre AC of French Ligue 1 at 15 years old, and spent time with the club’s Academy and reserve squad, but did not see the field with the first team.
