United States Under-20 National Team captain Kyle Davies is now a member of FC Dallas, after completing a move from Real Salt Lake. In exchange, RSL gets Dallas' lowest second round pick in next year's SuperDraft.
RSL won Davies' rights in a special lottery a few weeks ago when he joined Major League Soccer from Southampton. The 19-year-old defender never played for RSL, who needed to make room on their roster for Fabian Espíndola.
“This trade allows us to get something of value in return for Kyle, a player with a lot of potential," RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey said. "We wish him well with Dallas and in representing our country in Egypt this fall.”
Davies joins fellow USA Under-20 National Team members Anthony Wallace, Brek Shea, Peri Marosevic and Josh Lambo on the Dallas squad.
“Kyle Davies will be a good addition to our team,” FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman. “He has good pace, is an aggressive player, who is also a good distributor of the ball and a good ball-winner. Kyle has the ability to play in two places for us. Being left-footed, he can play left back and he’s also a center back. Coming out of the English soccer system with the Southampton reserves, it’s a pretty aggressive, fast-paced game, and I think he’ll be able to make the adjustment to MLS.”
