FC Dallas took the early road lead at Rio Tinto Stadium on Friday night, with goals from Jeff Cunningham in the 13th and Dave van den Bergh in the 21st, only for Real Salt Lake to come roaring back in the second-half with four unanswered goals of their own.
Yura Movsisyan scored in the 55th, Robbie Findley converted a penalty kick, Dallas' Daniel Torres got the own goal in the 88th, and Movsisyan scored again in stoppage time. For all the Salt Lake offense, Dallas finished the game with more shots on goal, seven to RSL's six.
“It was a team effort," Movsisyan said. "This was a season-changing performance.”
RSL keeper Nick RImando stopped a Jeff Cunningham penalty shot in the second-half, keeping him from passing RSL coach Jason Kreis on the all-time MLS scoring table. Oddly enough, Kreis was ejected from the game for arguing the penalty call, a handball from RSL's Chris Wingert.
“I was, first and foremost, very disappointed with the call," Kreis said. "I was quite emotional about that and said a few words before the penalty was taken, and then that was a game-changing play from someone who is a leader on this team."
Dallas' Drew Moor was red carded in the 95th.
