Things returned to normal for Major League Soccer on Wednesday night, with Houston and Seattle advancing. That puts four MLS and four USL teams into the Fourth Round.
Houston 2 - Austin 0
Though the Dynamo went with the expected mix of reserve players, including giving goalkeeper Tally Hall his first start with the club, Austin never looked like they had an answer on either side of the field. Still, it took 71 minutes before Corey Ashe finally got Houston their opener. Ashe also picked up the assist on Dominic Oduro's goal in the 90th minute. Houston advances to play Charleston next Tuesday at Blackbaud Stadium.
Seattle 2 - Portland 1
16,382 fans filled PGE Park for a game that needed no extra buildup. Starting Kasey Keller in goal and Nate Jaqua up front, Seattle was a goal up in the first minute when Roger Levesque scored. Stephen King made it 2-0 in the 27th. Mandjou Keita got a goal back for Portland in the 43rd, but couldn't find a second half equalizer. Seattle advances to host Kansas City at the Starfire Sports Complex on Tuesday.
