The Washington Freedom had home field advantage in the opening round of Women's Professional Soccer, but it was Saint Louis Athletica overturning last week's loss on the same field to advance to the semifinals with a 2-1 win. Saint Louis dominated opportunities, putting 10 of 24 shots on frame to Washington's three from 12. Saint Louis also led on corners six to one. Natasha Kai put Saint Louis up a goal in the 55th minute, just a minute after coming on as a substitute for Kerri Hanks. Washington would pull even when Lisa Di Vanna scored in the 78th, but Saint Louis would net the winner through Francielle five minutes from time. Athletica advances to host Sky Blue FC on August 19th (7pm - FSC).
