"We were playing a good team," Fulham manager Roy Hodgson said. "It was a very tough game. We were better in the second half, got on top and luckily scored our goal - but they made it tough to the final minutes."
Everton got a 2-1 away win over BATE Borisov at the Borisov Gradski Stadium. Tim Howard got the start, with Everton finding themselves down a goal 16 minutes in when Dmitry Likhtarovich scored. That lead held until the 68th minute, when Marouane Fellaini equalized. Tim Cahill got Everton's winner in the 77th.
"It was probably coming from behind which pleased me as much as anything," Everton manager David Moyes said. "We went a goal down but I actually thought we played better in the first half. We managed the conditions but were wasteful with a few chances. They scored a worldy of a goal and we were chasing the game but I thought we did okay."
Howard made three saves behind a reworked defense. Everton were missing ten regulars, including their central defender Joseph Yobo.
