Emmerson Boyce had Wigan's opener in the 13th. "The team's come a long way over the past two years and we've got a long way to go," Fulham manager Roy Hodgson said. "The thing about playing at this high level of football, you are constantly running to stand still. The moment you relax and take your foot off the pedal it's amazing how quickly teams fly past you. There will be no complacency on our part and today's game is a good example of that." Eddie Johnson wasn't in the squad for Fulham.
Second Star: Marcus Tracy scored for Aalborg in the 74th-minute, beating FC Copenhagen 1-0 the week before the US National Team plays Denmark.Third Star: Tim Howard shook off the midweek Europa League disappointment and got the win as Everton beat West Ham United 2-1. Louis Saha put Everton up in the 27th and Dan Gosling scored in the 64th-minute. West Ham's goal came courtesy of Everton's Tony Hibbert, who put the ball in the back of his own net in the 65th. "We know we're not in a great moment right now," Everton manager David Moyes said. "When we went 2-0 up it felt like a good moment, but then to lose a goal just after it meant there were 35 minutes - or what felt like an hour and 35 minutes - of horrible moments." Also in the EPL, Jozy Altidore went 83 minutes with Hull City beating Stoke 2-1. A big game for Brad Friedel and the Aston Villa offense, rolling over Bolton 5-1. Brad Guzan was on the bench for Villa. In the Championship, Frank Simek started and went 72 minutes for Sheffield Wednesday, losing 2-1 to QPR. Good news for DaMarcus Beasley, who played the second-half and had an assist on Rangers' winner in their 2-1 result over St Mirren.
Ligue 1, and Carlos Bocanegra went 66 minutes in Rennes' 3-2 loss to Toulouse. Rennes equalized at 1-1 just before halftime, but Toulouse scored in the 59th and 63rd to put the game away. Rennes pulled a goal back six minutes from time.
In the Bundesliga, Steve Cherundolo went the full ninety in Hannover's 2-2 draw with Hamburg. The two clubs traded goals, with Hannover equalizing at 2-2 on an 88th-minute Jiri Stajner penalty. Michael Bradley also went the full ninety, with Borussia Moenchengladbach drawing 0-0 with Stuttgart. In the 2.Bundesliga, Kenny Cooper came on in the 74th-minute for 1860 Munich, who lost 1-0 to Energie Cottbus. Sergei Radu got the game's only goal on a 62nd-minute penalty.
SAS-Ligaen, Benny Feilhaber and Jeremiah White started for AGF Aarhus in their 1-1 draw with Koge. Michael Parkhurst got the start for Nordsjaelland, 1-0 winners over Sonderjyske.
In Mexico, Jose Francisco Torres went the full ninety, but Pachuca lost 3-0 to Toluca.
