First Star: Clint Dempsey got the third of Fulham's three goals in their 3-1 win over Liverpool. Bobby Zamora had Fulham up in the 24th-minute, but Fernando Torres answered back three minutes from halftime. In the second, Erik Nevland put Fulham back up in the 73rd-minute. Liverpool went down a man in the 79th when Philipp Degen was sent off, and ended up with nine after Jamie Carragher followed with an 82nd-minute red card. Dempsey struck in the 87th, finishing off the scoring. "If it had been 11 v 11 when we were 2-1 up I think we had been defending well enough to hold out," Fulham manager Roy Hodgson said. "But anything could have happened in the closing minutes.... With the sendings off we were able to see the game out in very comfortable fashion and add to the scoreline."

Fellow US international Troy Perkins was in goal for Valerenga.Third Star: Michael Bradley went the distance in Borussia Moenchengladbach's 3-2 win over Hamburg. Peter Trochowski had Hamburg up in the 13th-minute, with Marco Reus pulling Moenchengladbach even in the 39th. The clubs traded goals again, with Jose da Silva Junior Ze Roberto scoring in the 47th and Moenchengladbach's Dante answering back in the 76th. With the score 2-2, Rob Friend got 'Gladbach's winner in the 82nd-minute.
Jonathan Spector went the full ninety in West Ham United's 2-2 draw with Sunderland. Aston Villa's Brad Friedel and Everton's Tim Howard went head-to-head on Saturday in a 1-1 draw. Howard finished with three saves and Friedel had one. Brad Guzan was on the bench for Villa. Jozy Altidore was yellow-carded in Hull City's 2-0 loss to Burnley. Altidore came on in the 59th-minute. In the Championship, Frank Simek went the full ninety for Sheffield Wednesday, finishing 1-1 against Bristol City. Simek was yellow-carded four minutes from time.
France, and Carlos Bocanegra's Rennes lost 3-0 to Valenciennes. Bocanegra was yellow carded in the 56th-minute.In Germany, Steve Cherundolo went the full ninety for Hannover, 1-0 winners over Cologne. In the 2.Bundesliga, Kenny Cooper came on in the 75th-minute for 1860 Munich in their 1-0 loss to Kaiserslautern. Erik Jendrisek had the game's only goal.
Denmark, and Benny Feilhaber and Jeremiah White were in the starting lineup for AGF Aarhus in their 2-2 draw with Midtjylland. Feilhaber was subbed off in the 75th-minute, and White followed in the 82nd. Michael Parkhurst went the full ninety in Nordsjaelland's 1-0 loss to Brondby.
In the Mexican Liga, Jose Francisco Torres went the full ninety and Pachuca drew 1-1 with Atlas. Michael Orozco went the full ninety as well, with San Luis lost 3-0 to Monterrey.
