Aron Winter is officially the new coach of Toronto FC, the club announced on Thursday. Winter takes the title of coach and technical director, with Bob de Klerk named as his first assistant and former New England assistant Paul Mariner returning to Major League Soccer as the club's director of player development.
“I am extremely excited by the opportunity that has been given to me to lead Toronto FC,” Winter said in a press statement. “The vision of this club matches my beliefs about how the game should be played, and I look forward to building a team that is capable of delivering long term success on and off the pitch.”
