Tim Howard took his usual place in Everton’s goal for the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City on Wednesday in a result that was more valuable for relegation threatened Birmingham City. City’s point moves them out of the relegation places at 17th-place, leading 18th-place West Ham on goal differential. City went up in the 17th minute with John Heitinga equalizing for Everton in the 35th. Everton had the bulk of the offense, putting nine of 22 shots on frame to Birmingham’s three from six.
"It has been the thing we have said a lot this season,” Everton manager David Moyes said. “When it has come to us to make the moment count, we haven't been able to produce. I thought we controlled bits of the game without really hurting them and making too many clear opportunities. If anybody was going to win it was going to be us. We just didn't show enough in the final third to get the goal."
