With several National Teamer Abroad clubs out of action over the weekend due to the Sixth Round of the FA Cup in England, we're suspending the star ratings for this week.
Two National Teamers in England did see time in the FA Cup, with Stuart Holden getting the start in Bolton's 3-2 win over Birmingham City. Bolton opened the scoring through Johan Elmander in the 21st minute, with Birmingham equalizing in the 38th. Bolton were up again when Kevin Davies scored in the 66th minute, but once again Birmingham answered back with an 80th minute goal. It was Bolton's Lee Chung-Yong with the stoppage time winner, advancing his club to the semifinals against Stoke.
"It was a great pass and I couldn't miss," Chung-Yong said. "I felt like I was flying when the ball hit the net. I lost my mind! I feel wonderful. It was a very difficult game but we managed to win and I feel great that we are going to Wembley."
Stoke advanced 2-1 at the expense of Jonathan Spector and West Ham United. Spector was a 35th minute substitute, coming on after Stoke opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Frederic Piquionne equalized in the 30th. Stoke missed a penalty in the 47th, but found a winner in the 63rd.
Championship, and Brad Guzan's quick return on loan to Hull City meant a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Coventry. Aaron Mclean had the game's only goal in the 33rd minute. In League One, Frank Simek and Carlisle were on the wrong side of a 6-0 score line against Peterborough.
Maurice Edu took his usual place in Rangers' starting eleven, beating Kilmarnock 2-1 at Ibrox. Rangers got their winner through an 87th minute own-goal.
Bundesliga, and Steve Cherundolo was in the lineup for Hannover 96 in a surprising 4-0 loss to Cologne. The goals started in the 36th minute, with Hannover forced into subbing their goalkeeper due to injury in the 52nd minute. Cologne took advantage, scoring in the 60th, 79th, and 89th. Cherundolo was yellow carded in the 78th minute. Ricardo Clark played the first-half for Eintracht Frankfurt, losing 2-1 to Schalke. A league down, Edson Buddle was a 72nd minute substitute in Ingolstadt's 2-1 win over FSV Frankfurt.
France, and Carlos Bocanegra was in the St Etienne defense for their 2-0 win over Brest. St Etienne converted a penalty in the 35th minute and got a goal from Dimitri Payet in the 88th. The win moves them to 7th in Ligue 1.
In Holland, Oguchi Onyewu started for Twente in their 2-1 win over VVV Venlo who went up a goal only three minutes in. Twente equalized in the 30th and got an 83rd minute winner from Ola John. Belgium, and Sacha Kljestan started for Anderlecht in their 1-1 draw with Eupen in the Jupiler League. Anderlecht lead from the 38th minute, but Eupen got an 82nd minute equalizer to split the points at the Kehrweg Stadion.
Turkey, and Jozy Altidore started and went 71 minutes in Bursaspor's 1-1 draw with Karabukspor at the Yenisehir Stadium. A league down, Freddy Adu started and played 69 minutes for Rizepor in a 0-0 draw with Giresunspor.
Mexico, and Jose Francisco Torres started and went the distance for Pachuca in their 4-0 loss to Atlante at home. Herculez Gomez was a 58th minute substitute. Pachuca are bottom of Group 2, four points behind Atlante.
