Real Salt Lake were unable to take advantage of their away goals in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final. Monterrey's Humberto Suazo scored the second leg’s only goal just before halftime, and that decided the two-leg series 1-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate. After drawing 2-2 in the first leg, Salt Lake would’ve won with a 0-0 or 1-1 draw. Though RSL had chances, they were unable to turn opportunity into a goal. Monterrey advances to the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup as CONCACAF Champions League winners, extending Mexico's dominance in the Champions League.
