Colorado 0 – Toronto 0
Both teams were left trying to figure out how to push their offense after a scoreless 90 minutes at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
“When moments came, we needed someone to step up and take the bull by the horns and create a chance,” Colorado coach Gary Smith said. “On two or three times occasions through balls went skipping out of bounds without any feeling. At the moment we're finding goals hard to come by. There's nothing wrong with the endeavor in the group; there was some good possession, but converting possession into valuable opportunities was difficult today."
His opposite number, Toronto coach Aron Winter, put his club’s lack of goals down to simple tough luck.
“We had some shots and if some moments of the game were different we could have gotten three points,” he said. “We had a big opportunity before halftime. Just some different outcomes on plays and we could have got the points.”
Dallas 0 – Salt Lake 0
It was the same score line at Pizza Hut Park, though this game including a lightening delay that was almost as long as a regulation game. It took almost two hours to get the teams back on the field to play the final eight minutes.
“The rain delay is tough on everyone and what we try to do is talk to them a bit individually, but we also realize that they need to find their own space and do whatever they are comfortable with,” Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said. “We have been through it before so that was a little bit of knowledge for us. I stayed completely away from the officials. Since we have been through it before, I knew there wouldn’t be a lot of things happening in the background knowing the league was going to ask us to finish playing the game once the weather breaks. So I stayed away and spent a good hour and a half cleaning my office (laughs) because I had the time to do it and I wanted to keep busy.”
