US National Team midfielder Stuart Holden will miss six months as he recovers from a follow-up surgery to the injury that already left him out of action from March. Holden was inured against Manchester United last season, only returning to the squad on September 20th when he played 90 minutes in a League Cup game. The scheduled procedure carried out on Wednesday was expected to need six weeks of recovery time. That has been extended to six months after cartilage damage was discovered in his knee.
"He went in for the procedure this afternoon and it was picked up that the cartilage was damaged and needed to be repaired, which has now happened, and we will now support Stuart as he begins his recovery," Bolton manager Owen Coyle said.
Holden is keeping his fans updated on twitter, telling them: "Someone has a bigger plan for me and I look forward to keeping you updated over the next 6 months as I beat the odds once again .. Much love."
