With only one Major League Soccer game on the Saturday schedule, a makeup for a postponement earlier in the season, Real Salt Lake got more momentum as they attempt to return to the top of the Western Conference table. As seems to be the story this season, it was at the expense of an Eastern Conference contender. Kyle Beckerman opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, picking up an assist when Chris Schuler doubled the lead in the 26th. Philadelphia pulled a goal back when Sebastien Le Toux scored four minutes later, but that was it for the goals. Beckerman is expected in Brussels to join the US National Team on Sunday.
“It’s a huge game for us," Beckerman said. "This is one of those games that we had in hand and if we win we jumped Colorado so it had a lot of importance. It was just like any other big game we play.”
