In a battle of Eastern Conference contenders, Sporting Kansas City got the better of struggling Columbus at LIVESTRONG Park. Kei Kamara put Sporting in front from the penalty spot in the 15th minute, with Columbus equalizing when Emilio Renteria scored in the 34th. Unfortunately for Columbus, a 74th minute own goal would send all three points Sporting's way. The win means Sporting takes over 1st-place in the East.
Salt Lake 0 - Chicago 3
With RSL trying to shake off a 4-1 loss to DC last Saturday and looking forward to a showdown with Western Conference and Supporters' Shield leaders LA this Saturday, they were tagged with another lopsided loss. And again, it was a struggling Eastern Conference team doing the damage. Unlike in DC, Chicago had the benefit of playing most of the game a man up after Kyle Beckerman was sent off in the 11th minute. The Fire's Marco Pappa was the hero, scoring in the 9th, 36th, and 75th minutes.
