Home field advantage didn't help Dallas in a Major League Soccer matchup where the winner advanced to the knockout stage of the CONCACAF Champions League. Danny Koevermans scored in the 29th minute and Joao Plata had two goals in the 69th and 81st minute with Milos Kocik picking up the shutout in front of 2,578 at Pizza Hut Park.
"For us it’s a real shame," Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said. "I don’t like to use the words ‘we weren’t prepared’ or use the words ‘we came out flat.’ I just don’t think we were as committed to this game as they were or as much as we needed to be."
Seattle 1 - Monterrey 2
Having already advanced to the knockout stage, Seattle left goalkeeper Kasey Keller on the bench in front of 15,866 at CenturyLink Field. Monterrey took the lead three minutes in. Fredy Montero equalized for Seattle in the 42nd, but Monterrey went in front for good in the 61st. The result means Monterrey wins Group D with the Sounders finishing second.
