Seattle's loss was LA's gain. Though the Los Angeles Galaxy didn't play on Saturday, Seattle losing means LA wins the Supporters' Shield as the team with the best regular season record. This is the Galaxy's fourth Supporters' Shield and their second in a row. They're also the third team in a row to win back-to-back Supporters' Shields.
New England 1 - San Jose 2
The earthquakes picked up the road win at Gillette Stadium, with Chris Wondolowski opening the scoring in the 8th minute. Benny Feilhaber equalized for New England in the 55th, but it was Wondolowski with the winner in the 82nd minute. Both teams were already out of playoff contention before Saturday's game.
“That would be a nice way to finish the season, but the best part about tonight was getting the win," Wondolowski said of potentially finishing the season as the League's top scorer. "Hopefully we can get a couple of more wins these last two games and build some momentum for next year. If I get some goals that would be great, but really I just want us to play well and get some results to finish the year on a good note.”
Seattle 0 - Philadelphia 2
Seattle ceded the Supporters' Shield race and Philadelphia now leads the Eastern Conference by two points level on games played with Kansas City and Columbus. Freddy Adu opened the scoring in the 60th minute and it was 2-0 when Brian Carroll got a goal ten minutes later. Zac MacMath picked up the shutout with help from his crossbar.
“It is huge win for us to get it here, especially after the Sounders’ US Open Cup win,” Sebastien Le Toux told MLSsoccer.com. "To come on out into the west and get a win is a big confidence boost for us. It is big win for us to be on top in the East.”
