We'll start with the league that had an American scoring a goal. Herculez Gomez once again did his job as a super sub for U.A.G., but unfortunately it was in a losing effort. Gomez subbed on in the 68th minute and was on the score sheet five minutes later. Unfortunately, Chivas already lead 5-1, taking the game 5-2. U.A.G. are 15th in the 18-team Apertura table.
Also in the Primera Division, DaMarcus Beasley took his regular place in Puebla's starting eleven, beating Queretaro 1-0. Duvier Riascos scored the game's only goal in the 57th minute and was sent off a minute later. Puebla would finish with nine men after Gabriel Pereyra was sent off in the 73rd, three minutes after subbing in.
England, and Clint Dempsey went the distance as Fulham was shutout 2-0 by Stoke City. Tim Howard found himself on the wrong side of a 3-1 score line as Everton lost to Chelsea. Everton already trailed by three goals when Apostolos Vellious pulled one back in the 81st minute. Brad Friedel was n goal for Spurs, drawing Newcastle 2-2. A league down, Robbie Findley subbed on in the 76th minute for Nottingham Forest, losing to Coventry 1-0.
Carlos Bocanegra and Maurice Edu started for Rangers in a 1-1 draw with St Mirren. Edu subbed off in the 72nd minute. Nikica Jelavic scored for Rangers in the 48th minute, but St Mirren equalized in stoppage time at Ibrox.
Bundesliga, and Timmy Chandler went the distance for Nurnberg, losing 2-1 to VfL Wolfsburg. Jermaine Jones played the second-half for Schalke 04, losing 2-1 to Kaiserslautern. A league, down, Edson Buddle came on in the 76th minute for Ingolstadt, losing 3-1 to MSV Duisburg. Ingolstadt led from the 10th minute, but Duisburg equalized four minutes in the second-half.
Serie A, and Michael Bradley was yellow carded in the 71st as Chievo drew 0-0 with Juventus at home. Five other Chievo players picked up yellow cards in a game where both teams finished with only two shots on goal. Oguchi Onyewu and Sporting were in cup action on Saturday, with Onyewu playing the first-half in a 2-0 win over Famalicao. Eredivise, and Jozy Altidore went 72 minutes for AZ, drawing 2-2 with Ajax at the ArenA. AZ led 2-0 by the 22nd minute and were up a man late but couldn't find a winner. In Belgium, Sacha Kljestan went the distance as Anderlecht rolled over Standard Liege 5-0.
A battle of the Americans in Denmark, with Michael Parkhurst's Nordsjaelland beating Chris Rolfe's AaB 1-0. Both players went the full 90. Clarence Goodson went the distance for Brondby, losing 1-0 to Midtjylland. In Norway, Mix Diskerud's Stabaek drew 1-1 with Lillestrom.
