Clint Dempsey scored as Fulham routed Queens Park Rangers 6-0 in a new Premier League level London derby. Andrew Johnson opened the scoring two minutes in at Craven Cottage, with Danny Murphy converting a penalty in the 20th minute. Johnson finished off his hat-trick with goals in the 38th and 59th minutes. Dempsey scored in the 65th with Bobby Zamora getting the final goal in the 74th minute.
"Everyone is delighted with the result and for the fans because it was a local derby," Johnson said. "I had that bit of luck today and everything we hit went in. It's unfortunate for QPR that they caught us on one of those days."
Also in the Premier League, Tim Howard stopped a penalty in the Liverpool derby, but Everton lost 2-0. In the North London derby, Brad Friedel was in goal for Spurs beating Arsenal 2-1. A league down, Jonathan Spector subbed out 12 minutes into Birmingham City's 3-1 win against Robbie Findley's Nottingham Forest. Spector injured his ankle in what's being reported as a minor sprain that shouldn't cost him significant time. Ishmael Miller had Forest up 35 minutes in, but City were level when Chris Burke scored in the 75th. Chris Wood's goals in the 79th and 88th minutes sealed things for Birmingham. Findley subbed on in the 65th minute.
The American contingent at Rangers all got the start on Saturday in a 1-0 win over Hibs. Maurice Edu and Carlos Bocanegra went the distance with Alejandro Bedoya subbing off at halftime. Steven Whittaker missed a 45th minute penalty, with Kyle Lafferty scoring the game's only goal in the 68th minute.
Bundesliga, and Timmy Chandler assisted on two of Nurnberg's three goals, drawing 3-3 with Mainz. Nurnberg led 2-0 with Mainz getting on the board in the 32nd minute. and going up 3-2 by the 52nd. An 82nd minute goal from Tomas Pekhart split the points. Steve Cherundolo played 90 minutes for Hannover 96 in a 3-2 win against Werder Bremen. Cherundolo was yellow carded in the 74th minute. Jermaine Jones subbed on in the 55th minute with Schalke 04 tied 1-1 with Hamburg. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would score his second goal of the game in the 73rd minute for the 2-1 win. A league down, Edson Buddle scored in the 9th and 20th minute for Ingolstadt and assisted on their third goal in the 43rd. It wasn't enough, as VfL Bochum came back to win 5-3.
Serie A, and Michael Bradley went the distance for Chievo in a 0-0 draw with Cesena. In Holland, Jozy Altidore subbed on in the 58th minute with AZ leading VVV Venlo 1-0. AZ would extend that lead to 3-0 before VVV ruined Esteban Alvarado's shutout attempt in stoppage time. In Portugal, Oguchi Onyewu went the distance for Sporting in a 1-0 win over Guimaraes. In Belgium, Sacha Kljestan went the distance as Anderlecht beat Racing Genk 1-0.
In the SAS-Ligaen, Chris Rolfe went the Distance for AaB in a 1-1 draw with Silkeborg. Clarence Goodson went the distance for Brondby, beating Lyngby 1-0. Same story for Michael Parkhurst, with Norsdsjaelland winning 1-0 over Sonderjyske. In Norway, Mix Diskerud got the start for Stabaek, beating Sarpsborg 2-0.
Primera, and DaMarcus Beasley scored Puebla's goal in a 2-1 loss to San Luis. Beasley's goal came 11 minutes in with San Luis equalizing in the 56th and scoring the winner in the 74th minute. Michael Orozco got the start for San Luis.
