Without forwards Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, the Los Angeles Galaxy was shutout on the road at Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night. Luke Rodgers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and Thierry Henry finished it off in the 59th. Frank Rost recorded the shutout with three saves. New York outshot LA 15 to 12, putting six of those shots on frame.
"I think every time we come here, we expect a fight because Red Bull is a team that the majority of the time will battle," Galaxy midfielder David Beckham said. "We knew, obviously the position they were in, they needed to win the game. We knew that they were going to battle tonight, and they did. At the end of the day they out-battled us."
