Kansas City 2 - Colorado 0 (KC 4 - Col 0)
There will be a new MLS Cup champion, with Colorado's title defense ending on Wednesday night at LIVESTRONG Park. With Sporting already up two goals from the opening leg of the series, they added two more to win 4-0 in aggregate. Aurelien Collin opened the scoring in the 28th minute and CJ Sapong made it 2-0 on the night in the 76th.
"We know that we still have some work to do here," Kansas City coach Peter Vermes said. "But for sure we know that we’ve made a big step. I know that I’ve been playing down a lot of the games as we come into the stretch here because I really didn’t think we achieved something but I think now you can say that we’ve achieved something."
Seattle 2 - Salt Lake 0 (Seattle 2 - RSL 3)
Seattle came within a goal of pulling of an unlikely comeback in their semifinal series with Real Salt Lake. In a game where Seattle pressed from the opening whistle, it took an Osvaldo Alonso penalty in the 56th minute to finally get a goal in the series. That made it 3-1 on aggregate, with Lamar Neagle scoring in the 61st minute to pull the Sounders to within a goal. In his final game, Seattle goalkeeper Kasey Keller needed one save to keep a clean sheet on the night.
"Credit to Seattle and credit to their crowd for creating that atmosphere and credit to the team for putting us under that kind of pressure," Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis said. "I think that what you saw was that this is a very, very good team that went out in the first round of the playoffs which is, I think, disappointing."
