Brad Friedel was in goal for Spurs, losing 2-1 to Stoke City. Zak Whitbread returned to Norwich's starting lineup in a surprising 4-2 win over Newcastle. With the game level at 1-1, Norwich scored three times in the second-half. Whitbread subbed out in the 83rd minute. With Swansea up a goal, Clint Dempsey failed to convert an 87th minute penalty for Fulham. Swansea scored a second in stoppage time for the 2-0 win. A league down, Jonathan Spector got the start for Birmingham City in a 2-1 win over Doncaster.
Scotland, And Carlos Bocanegra returned for Rangers joining Maurice Edu in the starting eleven for a 2-0 win over Hibernian. Nikica Jelavic converted a penalty in the 61st minute and added a second goal from the run of play eight minutes later. Edu was yellow carded in the 10th minute, with Bocanegra also seeing yellow in the 55th. Edu subbed out in the 88th minute. A league down, Dominic Cervi was in goal for Greenock Morton's 2-1 loss to Partick Thistle.
Bundesliga, and Fabian Johnson was a big part of Hoffenheim's 2-0 shutout of Timmy Chandler's Nurnberg. Johnson assisted on both of Vedad Ibisevic's goals (39th and 56th) at the EasyCredit-Stadion. Chandler was red carded in the 43rd minute, with Danny Williams subbing on for Hoffenheim in the 66th minute. Jermaine Jones went the distance for Schalke 04 in a 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar opened the scoring for Schalke in the 19th minute, with Hertha equalizing in the 25th. Teemu Pukki scored the winner in the 43rd. Jones was yellow carded in the 58th minute.
