A youth soccer prodigy, Santino joined DC United as a 16-year-old. He set a number of records as the youngest player in MLS at the time - youngest to score, youngest Player of the Week, and youngest All-Star. After moving to the LA Galaxy in 2006 and spending a season with New York, he returned to DC in 2009. Early success saw him gain a role with the United States, marked by a scoring a goal during the '09 Gold Cup at RFK stadium.

2005: Made his National Team debut as part of the Gold Cup squad and became a regular in the World Cup Qualifying cycle playing in four games.
